Spice export glossary
Volatile oil content
The steam-distillable aromatic oil fraction of a spice (e.g. cardamom, cumin), a key quality index for aroma-driven buyers, expressed as % v/w.
Volatile oil content is a specification buyers put on the contract when sourcing Green Cardamom and Cumin from India. If you are buying to this spec and want it verified on your lot, we quote against it and ship with the test report.
