- Different year: the Spices Board figure is provisional FY2025-26; the IBEF absolute is FY2024-25.
- Different metric: 14% vs 12% is a share of total value; 654.71 vs 768.50 is an absolute dollar total.
- Both are right for what they measure. Quoting one as "the answer" without the year and metric is where trade claims go wrong.
How to cite it safely
If you need the current-year picture, use the FY2025-26 value share (USA ahead). If you need the last fully-reported absolute total, use the FY2024-25 IBEF value (China ahead). Never combine the two into a single ranking.
